Destruction of Noah’s age world:
It is written thus, “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, “The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. (Genesis 6: 5-13)
And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the water increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth. And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters. And the water prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills that were under the whole heaven, were covered. Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered. And flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: all in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark. (Genesis 7:17-23)
Against the Lord Almighty God and His holy writ:
Then again we read when mankind become one and gather together to build a tower for their selves that reaches to the heaven to make their name and not to be scattered over the face of the whole earth. And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slim had they for mortor. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the Lord said, “Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth”. (Genesis 11:1-9)
Hence we read again and again in the Word of God whenever and where ever the holy Laws of the Holy Lord were broken on the earth He interfered in the scene and did not leave the guilty unpunished.
Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah:
All of us know the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah on account of the wickedness of its society. See then what saying the Lord to Abraham, “Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know”. (Genesis 18:20-21) Now see then, the people of Sodom and Gomorrah what saying to Lot? “But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: and they called unto Lot, and said unto him, where are the men who came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may know them. And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, and said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof. And they said, Stand back. And they said again, this one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with them, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door. But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them,, and shut to the door. And the smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that the wearied themselves to find the door”. (Genesis 19:4-11)
“Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven; and he over throw those cities and that which grew upon the ground”. (Genesis 19:24)
Pharaoh the king of Egypt:
Just read and think, what pharaoh the king of Egypt is saying in great boastfully, “And pharaoh said, who is the Lord, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the Lord, neither will I let go”, (Exodus 5:2) Then what happened with pharaoh and his people and what God did with them? How the Lord unleashed against them His hot anger, His wrath, indignation and hostility- a band of destroying angels? He prepared a path for his anger; He did not spare them from death but gave them over to the plague. He struck down all the firstborn of the first fruits of manhood in the tent of Ham. And then we read thus, Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the see: His chosen captains also are drowned in the red see. The depths have covered them: They sank into the bottom as a stone”. (Exodus 15:4-5)
Israel Exiled Because of Sin:
The most loving one, the nation of the Lord God Almighty, the Israel to whom He loved and prospered, a people belonging to God. He said to her, “For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The Lord did not set his love upon you, not choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: but because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. But when they turned aside out of the way which their God commanded them and made them a molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Baal. Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight; there was none left but the tribe of Judah only. Also Judah kept not the commandments of the Lord their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made. And the Lord rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight”. (2-kings 17:16-20)
Though the Lord our God not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. Yet He does not leave the guilty unpunished. We see in these last days how the wickedness is increasing in the Church, Many false prophets are appearing and deceiving many people. For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of sinful human nature, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, while themselves are slaves of depravity – for a man is a salve to whatever has mastered him. With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduced the unstable; they are experts in greed – an accursed brood! They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Beor, who loved the wages of wickedness.
So now the time has come to be awakened otherwise our lamp stand may also be removed from its place. Repent, then, and turn to God, so that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you – even Jesus. |
